Openbank Aspar Team rider will fight to get on the podium for the first time this season
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya hosts the third round of the MotoE World Championship and the Openbank Aspar Team arrives with the aim of getting back on the podium. Jordi Torres has still not managed to finish in the top three so far this season and will fight to do so at the Catalan GP, his home race. The Openbank Aspar Team rider has shown great competitiveness at the beginning of the year, but he is aware that he must take a step forward to be able to fight in the front group. To achieve this, completing a good qualifying and being aggressive from the start will be key in the two races this weekend on the Catalan track.
Teammate Kevin Zannoni arrives very motivated at the third GP of the season after achieving his first podium with the team in Le Mans. The Italian completed a great comeback in the first race in France and finished second, his best result in the electric category. Zannoni has ended in the top nine in all races this season, which places him third in the World Championship standings. In Barcelona, the Openbank Aspar Team rider will seek to reduce the gap with his rivals, as he is 30 points behind the leader, Mattia Casadei, and 28 behind second placed, Nicholas Spinelli.
Kevin Zannoni: "After the great weekend at Le Mans I am very excited. It will be important to replicate the good feelings in Barcelona and to be strong from the start. Going directly to Q2 will be key because starting from the front can make the difference when it comes to fight for the podium."
Jordi Torres: “My home grand prix is approaching, and we have to be strong. It is a circuit where things have to change and we must begin to show our potential. Until now we have timidly shown what we can do, but we have to work hard and, from this race onwards, be more aggressive to be ahead, no matter what.”
