Torres will be looking to emulate the results achieved at last year's French Grand Prix, while Zannoni will be aiming for his first triumph
The MotoE World Championship heads to Le Mans for the second round of the season, almost two months after the opening grand prix in Portugal. The Openbank Aspar Team arrives with its batteries charged and eager to repeat the results achieved by Jordi Torres at last year's French Grand Prix. The Spanish rider took the first win of the season in the first race, inaugurating the Openbank Aspar Team's win list, and he finished the grand prix with a second place in the second race. This year, Torres started the season with a DNF after an incident with another rider and a fifth position in Portimao, which left him in eleventh place in the World Championship. For this weekend, the Openbank Aspar Team rider is aiming to emulate what he achieved in 2023 at a circuit he likes, and where he is good at, but he will not race there alone.
His teammate, Kevin Zannoni, will be looking for his first MotoE victory this weekend. The Italian made his debut with the Openbank Aspar Team at the Portuguese Grand Prix and had a very positive weekend, finishing fifth in the first race and seventh in the second. In France, Zannoni will be aiming to take a step forward and fight for the front positions. The Openbank Aspar Team rider is fifth in the World Championship, just five points behind third placed Nicholas Spinelli. The leader of the electric category is Italian Mattia Casadei, but he is only one point ahead of Héctor Garzó, so everything can change after the two races at the French Grand Prix.
Kevin Zannoni: "I am looking forward to getting back on the bike because it has been a long time since the first grand prix. During these weeks I have been working hard to arrive in the best possible conditions to the French GP. Le Mans is a circuit that I really like, it is one of my favourite tracks and I am very happy to be back there. Qualifying well and getting a good starting position will be very important. I hope to be able to fight for the front positions."
Jordi Torres: "Le Mans is a very technical and complicated circuit, but last year we had a very good feeling there, and I achieved the first victory of the season. I know what it takes to go fast, and the objective will be to try to be at the front since the beginning. I think that in difficult situations, with changing weather conditions and less tests before the race, I can shine more, and I am confident I can do that in France."
