Jordi Torres and Kevin Zannoni face the second round of the MotoE World Championship this weekend after their double podium finish at Le Mans.
The Power Electronics Aspar Team is hungry for more and wants to continue adding success at the start of the MotoE season. After the double podium finish at the opening race week at Le Mans, where Kevin Zannoni finished second and Jordi Torres third, the team leads the teams’ standings by eight points. Both riders travel to the Netherlands this week to compete at one of the most iconic circuits on the calendar: the TT Assen. Italian Kevin Zannoni starts from second place in the standings, three points off leader Mattia Casadei, while his teammate Jordi Torres is fifth, eight points behind Zannoni.
After a long break of almost two months, the Power Electronics Aspar Team returns to action at a circuit where Jordi Torres has achieved three podium finishes in the last two years. Kevin Zannoni has fared worse there. This year he arrives in second place overall after finishing fourth and second in France, but last year he didn't have an easy weekend at Assen, where he was involved in an incident with another rider that left both riders on the ground. This time he's very confident he can repeat the positive results from the start of the season. On the other hand, his teammate Jordi Torres does have fond memories of last year's Assen races, where he took third place after another rider was disqualified. The Power Electronics Aspar Team rider arrives eager to continue improving and once again challenge for the top positions. The podium finish at the second French race was confirmation of the excellent work done in preseason, which has allowed him and the team to lay a solid foundation for the upcoming Grands Prix.
Kevin Zannoni: “I'm ready for the Dutch round. Assen is a circuit I really like, and after this long break since Le Mans, I've worked hard these past few weeks to get in the best shape possible. In France, we built a good base for this season, and I want to fight for the top positions again, just like we did in the first races of the year.”
Jordi Torrres: “We're going into the Assen race week with a lot of enthusiasm. It's always been relatively good for me due to my riding style. I've had good results there, I've always been on the podium in MotoE with the team, and last year, despite coming off a poor run, we also achieved it. We're coming off a good start at Le Mans, but we want more. One of my strengths is setting a good pace from the start; I hope I can carry that over to Saturday. Everything is getting closer and closer, and we must take more risks, but paying attention to the tyres and how we use them.”
