▶ Biography

Sergio García Dols made his World Championship debut in 2019 but did not do so in Qatar, as he was under the minimum age, but at the Grand Prix of the Americas. The rider from Castellón arrived in the Moto3 World Championship as runner-up in the FIM CEV Repsol in 2018, but in his first season in the championship he surprised everyone with a very strong finish, getting a seventh position in Aragón, fifth in Japan, second in Malaysia and first in Valencia. García Dols thus closed a debut season with a home win and a total of two podiums, leaving him fifteenth in the championship.

The 2020 season began with an eleventh position in Qatar, before the break caused by the coronavirus health emergency. On his return to the World Championship in the summer, in Jerez, García Dols went from strength to strength, as in his debut year, which led him to finish fourth in Barcelona and come close to the podium for the first time in 2020. That longed-for podium came in the last phase of the season and multiplied by two, with two second places in the European and Valencian Grand Prix, both held at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. With these results, the rider from Castellón ended his time in the World Championship in ninth place overall and ready to make it to the GASGAS Aspar Team.

In 2021, Sergio García Dols inherited the technical team that had been champion with Albert Arenas in 2020 and after a timid start to the season, with fourth place in Qatar as his best result, he chained three victories and a total of five podiums in seven races, which made him one of the main candidates for the title. An injury in the final part of the season prevented him from fighting for the championship, but it was not an obstacle for him to close the year on the podium, again in Valencia. For 2022, Sergio is aware that he will be one of the favourites to win every Grand Prix with the GASGAS Aspar Team.
