Tough Saturday for CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar riders in Jerez

Joel Esteban and Dennis Foggia will have to fight back in the race and will start from the fifth and sixth rows of the grid

The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team riders completed the second day of the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto. High temperatures marked the qualifying sessions, in which Joel Esteban finished fourteenth and Dennis Foggia, sixteenth. Esteban, who secured a direct pass to Q2 yesterday, had a good feeling throughout the day and was able to improve this morning his times from Friday. In the afternoon, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider braved the tough track conditions to try to achieve the best possible grid position. Esteban improved his time lap and, after a pit stop, gave his all in the final minutes. In the end, his 1:45.115 placed him in fourteenth position on the grid for the Moto3 race. Tomorrow, he's confident he'll get off to a good start to score as many points as possible in a race in which José Antonio Rueda will start from pole position after battling until the end with Joel Kelso, who finished second. David Muñoz will complete the front row in third.

Dennis Foggia didn't feel comfortable on the bike yesterday, and this forced him to go through Q1 today to secure his grid position. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider noticed some improvement compared to yesterday and, after working with his team on the bike's setup throughout the morning, he was able to finish second in Q1 and secure a spot in the final Q2. Although his overall feeling is better than on Friday, the Italian from the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team will still be looking to continue fine-tuning details that could allow him to be even more competitive tomorrow.

14th Joel Esteban 1:45.115 (+1.360): “The day has been positive. In the morning, we worked on race pace, and I felt quite comfortable. There are a lot of riders with that pace, so it will be a close race. I didn't get a good lap in qualifying, although I couldn't fit all four sectors into the same lap. I'm happy to have competed in Q2; we will now start from the fifth row. Races are where I do my best. I'm going to try to get a good start to overtake several riders and fight to get a good result.”

16th Dennis Foggia 1:45.206 (+1.451): “From free practice to Q1, we were already a step ahead, moving on to Q2. We still need to make another step, because we're still a long way off, but I hope to continue making progress before the race to avoid the problems that are preventing me from giving my all.”
