Máximo Quiles will start the race from the second row of the grid, with team-mate Dennis Foggia on the fourth row
The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Valresa Aspar Team took part in the qualifying sessions for the Grand Prix of the United Kingdom on Saturday. Máximo Quiles and Dennis Foggia were sixth and tenth respectively after securing a direct pass to Q2 yesterday. Both riders fought for a good starting position in a session marked by the high number of riders on track, which prevented them from riding smoothly, and the threat of rain in the final minutes. Team-mates José Antonio Rueda and Álvaro Carpe will occupy the first and second positions on the grid respectively, while Ángel Piqueras will complete the front row.
The second day of the UK Grand Prix started in wet conditions at the Silverstone circuit. Due to the state of the track, the Moto3 riders did not want to take any risks in the second free practice of the weekend. In the afternoon, the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team riders went out for Q2 in dry conditions and focused on getting a place at the front of the grid. Máximo Quiles struggled to find a good feeling, although the Spaniard was able to turn the situation around and put in his best lap in the final minutes. With a time of 2:10.150, Quiles took sixth position and will start from the front of the grid tomorrow, in second row. His teammate Dennis Foggia took a step forward in terms of feeling compared to the previous day. The Italian was looking to improve his time, but the large number of slower riders on the track meant that Foggia could only manage tenth, with a time of 2:10.500, so he will start from the fourth row of the grid tomorrow. The CFMOTO Valresa Aspar rider is optimistic of fighting in the front group in the small category race.
6th Máximo Quiles 2:10.150 (+0.701): “We got the second row, it's a privileged position. The conditions were different, with a wet track in this morning's session. Even so, we managed to save it and I was able to set a good time. We will keep working to make another step forward for the race. We are suffering a bit this weekend because, although I love the circuit, I don't have the same feeling. Sometimes you suffer more, but it's in these moments when I have to do my best.”
10th Dennis Foggia 2:10.500 (+1.051): “There was a lot of chaos in qualifying with a lot of riders on track. We made some modifications and now I feel better on the bike. Tomorrow will be a bunch race, we'll try to make a good start and be fast through the corners so we can take our chances and fight for a good result.”
