The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team riders want to continue their growth in the second round of the season, on a track that returns to the World Championship after 37 years.
Máximo Quiles and Marco Morelli are ready for any challenge after a positive start to the 2026 season. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team riders arrive in South America this week to discover the biggest new addition to the calendar, the Brazilian Grand Prix, which returns to competition after a two-decade absence. Both riders had to face an unfamiliar circuit in Thailand because, despite not being rookies, neither of them competed in the race in 2025. Both Quiles and Morelli proved that this situation was not a disadvantage for them, and this weekend they will arrive in Brazil on equal terms with all their rivals. No rider in the category has been able to ride at the Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia-Ayrton Senna before. The one who does have experience in Brazil is Jorge Martínez ‘Aspar’, on a single visit in 1992, when he achieved the second podium finish in the history of the Aspar Team by finishing second, beaten only by Germany's Dirk Raudies.
The Thai Grand Prix race provided one of the best battles in recent years and one of the closest victories in memory. Máximo Quiles fought for the win until the very end and crossed the finish line in second place, just three thousandths behind David Almansa. Quiles' performance was a clear statement of intent from the Spanish rider, who once again made it clear that he will be one of the main protagonists in the category in 2026. His teammate Marco Morelli completed his first race with the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team in Buriram. The Spanish-Argentinian crossed the finish line in eighth position and will continue to work on adapting to the bike and the team in order to fight for the top of the standings again.
Máximo Quiles: “The good thing about this Grand Prix is that no one knows the circuit, and I like that. We're all in the same boat, so I'm really looking forward to competing in Brazil. It will be my first race as an 18-year-old, so we'll be fighting to pop the champagne on the podium for the first time.”
Marco Morelli: “In Thailand, I was able to draw some very positive conclusions to continue improving in the next races. I don't know any circuit of the first four Grand Prix, but nobody knows the one in Brazil, so that will be an advantage for me. It can give me an extra boost emotionally and on the track. We will work to take another step forward.”
