The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider was the second fastest on Friday, while Dennis Foggia finished eleventh
The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team riders achieved their goals for the day and both qualified for Saturday's Q2. Quiles was also just 98 thousandths off the fastest rider, Ángel Piqueras. José Antonio Rueda was third in a session in which up to fifteen riders finished within less than a second of each other. Dennis Foggia was eleventh, also just thousandths off the top 10.
The idyllic Mandalika circuit is once again hosting a weekend of action in which high temperatures and humidity will play against the Moto3 riders. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team took part in this morning's free practice session, seeking the best possible adaptation to the track and the harsh conditions, to which Máximo Quiles must add that he is once again facing an unfamiliar circuit. The Spanish rider showed that this situation is no problem for him and finished in third position. In the afternoon, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team's mission focused on securing direct entry into Q2. Both Máximo Quiles and Dennis Foggia improved on their morning times, especially the Italian, who lowered it by more than half a second. The Spaniard occupied the top positions in the standings and even led the times for several laps. In the final minutes, Quiles suffered a heavy crash that prevented him from finishing the session, although his 1:37.601 kept him in second place, just 98 thousandths of a second off the fastest time. His teammate Dennis Foggia had to give it his all to secure a spot in Saturday's Q2. In the final minutes, the Italian took a big step forward and, with a time of 1:38.275, moved into eleventh position.
2nd Máximo Quiles 1:37.601 (0.098): “I'm fine. It was a very hard crash and I would say it was the biggest high side of my life, I didn't know when I was going to fall. When I fell, I said ‘okay, I'm conscious’ and that gave me peace of mind. I have some scratches and pain all over my body, but I'm ready for tomorrow. I'm more eager than ever because the sensations were very good. I was riding alone and going very fast, but these things happen when you give it your all. We will continue to improve and aim for a good qualifying tomorrow."
11th Dennis Foggia 1:38.275 (+0.772): “The most important thing is that we are in Q2. We have a lot of work to do to keep improving in some areas, such as fast corners. Tomorrow we have another opportunity to take a step forward and get closer to the front positions.”
