The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider was the fastest in the Jerez tests after completing almost 150 laps over two days
CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider Máximo Quiles ends the Moto3 preseason as the fastest rider in the category. The 2025 Rookie of the Year finished the last test before the start of the season with the best time at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto. His 1:43.930, which left him just over two tenths of a second off the best lap ever set at the Andalusian track with a Moto3, allows him to arrive in Thailand with his head held high after being unable to make his debut in the tests that took place a few days ago in Portimao. Quiles completed a total of 144 laps over the two days and was the only rider able to break the 1:44 barrier, which he did on three occasions.
His teammate Marco Morelli, who is making his debut this year as a permanent world championship rider, completed almost 180 laps of the Jerez track over the two days of testing. The Spanish-Argentinian rider, who made his debut with the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team bike in Portimao, was able to carry out the entire work plan set out by his technical team to arrive in Thailand with the maximum guarantees. Morelli finished the Jerez test in eleventh position, six tenths of a second off the fastest time set by leader Máximo Quiles, and with the satisfaction of having successfully adapted to both the team and his new bike. Ahead of him, Scott Ogden and Adrián Fernández completed the top three positions in the test alongside Quiles. The next time the Moto3 riders will meet on the track will be in the first free practice session of the Thai Grand Prix on 27th February.
1st Máximo Quiles 1:43.930 (144 laps): "It's been a very positive two days of testing. The first day was a bit tricky due to the wind and track conditions, but today was a very good day for riding, as we say in the team. I'm super happy, we tested a lot of things with both used and new tyres. The feeling was very good. I'm looking forward to starting the season in Thailand, we're really excited and ready to fight."
11th Marco Morelli 1:44.586 (+0.656, 171 laps): "We have finished the two days of testing in Jerez. I'm a bit tired because yesterday I did 79 laps and today 92. That's what testing is for: to work and to understand things. It's my first contact with the bike, but I've adapted well. I'm really looking forward to going to Thailand and finally starting the season. We'll be going into the first race after having done a great job, but ready to give it our all."
