Máximo Quiles and Marco Morelli lead Moto3 and want to fight for the podium again at the Circuit of the Americas
Just days after the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team's best race since the 2022 Italian Grand Prix, Máximo Quiles and Marco Morelli travel to the United States to continue building a solid foundation for the European leg of the World Championship. The Spanish rider is the only one to have repeated a podium finish, after finishing second in Thailand and first in Brazil, allowing him to lead Moto3 with relative ease. With 45 points out of a possible 50, Quiles leads Moto3 with a comfortable advantage: after only two races, he already has 17 more points than his teammate. Quiles missed out on victory in Buriram by three thousandths of a second, but in Brazil he gave his rivals no chance, neither in the original race nor on the restart.
Quiles now arrives in the United States, where he made his World Championship debut exactly one year ago. Since then, the rider from Murcia has competed in twenty races, finishing eleven of them in the top three. With that average of 55% of his starts resulting in podium finishes, his objective at the Circuit of the Americas can be none other than to reach the podium. There, he also met up with his teammate last Sunday. Marco Morelli finished second in his second race with the CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team, which, combined with the results of riders like David Almansa and Valentín Perrone, puts him second in the overall standings. The Argentinian has already scored more points in two races this year than in the eight he competed in in 2025 and hopes to continue this trend starting this weekend in the United States.
Máximo Quiles: “I am very happy with how the Brazilian GP went; it was a great weekend for the team and for me. We’ve already celebrated what we needed to celebrate, and now it’s time to focus on Austin. I made my World Championship debut at this circuit last year. I have very fond memories of it, but we have to think on the present, because we have a lot of things to improve, and we’re going to have to get to work right from day one.”
Marco Morelli: “I'm facing a new circuit again, but so far I've been adapting well to each Grand Prix and hopefully it will continue like this. I'm really looking forward to riding at the Circuit of the Americas because it's a long track with fast corners and a very complete layout. Everyone speaks very highly of this circuit, so I hope to adapt quickly and do a good job with the team. I'm second in the overall standings, but we've only had two races and there's still a long way to go. The important thing is that we're on the right track and we have to keep it up."
