Dennis Foggia finished thirteenth in the first European race of the season, while Joel Esteban crashed in the second lap
The Spanish Grand Prix broke records at the Jerez - Ángel Nieto circuit both in the stands and on the track. In the Moto3 class, José Antonio Rueda won in front of the home crowd, leading from start to finish and with a large advantage. This result allowed him to regain the lead in the category from Ángel Piqueras, who finished second after fighting with Joel Kelso until the last laps.
The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team did not have the expected end in the first Spanish round of the calendar. Joel Esteban started the Spaniard Grand Prix from thirteenth position on the grid. The Spanish rider was very confident to make a good performance and move up positions. After the lights went out, the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider stayed in the group to secure as many points as possible. Unfortunately, Esteban suffered a crash in turn nine before completing the second lap, ending his race early. Dennis Foggia, who also started from the fifth row of the grid, lost a few positions at the start after having to avoid a multiple crash on the first lap. The Italian increased the pace and climbed up from twenty-first place to the points positions and stayed in the group. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider continued to make progress and moved up to thirteenth position to score his first points at Jerez.
12+1 Dennis Foggia (+30.583): "These are my first points in Jerez of my career, so we have taken another step forward. It was a very difficult race, but I felt better, although we are still far from the front. We will use this weekend's work to keep improving."
Joel Esteban (crash): "The race didn't end as I expected after feeling very comfortable all weekend. I made a good start and I was overtaking riders as I saw the group was breaking up. I didn't choose the best gap to get into the first two corners, but it was a good start. I crashed to avoid hitting another rider who braked more. It was my mistake for not seeing it coming. I'm happy with my work, improving every time I go out on track and we'll take advantage of this to give everything in the JuniorGP."
