Two tenths separate Dixon from pole at home

The CFMOTO Inde Aspar rider will start from fifth position in Silverstone after being held back twice during qualifying

Ai Ogura has shone in the British GP qualifying. The Japanese rider has taken his first pole position of the season in Silverstone has taken his first pole position of the season in Silverstone, securing the all-time lap record at the same time. Ogura has set a time of 2:02.940, beating by four tenths the previous record, set yesterday by Aron Canet. The Spanish has ended just 52 thousandths off Ogura's time in Q2 and will start tomorrow from second position, while Diogo Moreira will complete the front row of the grid. Ogura has a great opportunity to take the lead in Moto2, as his main rivals will start from intermediate positions. World Championship leader Sergio García has only been able to finish sixteenth and Fermín Aldeguer, who is third in the standings, will start from eleventh position after having competed in Q1.

CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon will start from the second row of the grid in his home race. The British has set the fifth best time in Q2, just two tenths off Ogura's pole. Although it is a great result, Dixon was hoping for more as he has been unable to complete a clean lap in qualifying. Tomorrow, Dixon has a clear objective: to climb to the top of the podium and get his first win of the season. His teammate Izan Guevara will have to fight to come back in the British GP. The Spanish will start from twenty-fourth position after not having made it through Q1. So far, Guevara has not had an easy weekend in Silverstone and this afternoon he will work to be able to take a step forward in tomorrow's race that would allow him to fight for points.

5th Jake Dixon 2:03.169: “The feelings in qualifying have been good, but I am annoyed. Sometimes I just need to go out and ride alone. Say ‘yes, I am ready to do it’, rather than looking for a reference to help me. If I had said ‘I can do it’ and gone out alone, I would probably be on pole. I have been held back twice. It is no one’s fault but mine. I have put myself in that position, so I am upset with myself. The team has given me a bike that was good enough to fight for first place. I feel very good for the race. I would rather be on the top step of the podium tomorrow than on pole today. Let’s see what we can do tomorrow, I have a good pace and I will fight as always.”

24th Izan Guevara 2:04.713: “We have made a step forward today, but we are still far away. We have to improve for tomorrow, we will work to find a solution because I am suffering a lot."
