The CFMOTO Inde Aspar rider has finished the first day in Aragon with the third best time, just three tenths off the fastest
Alonso López has started the Aragon GP on a strong note. The Spanish rider has led the two practice sessions in a GP start that has been marked by the difficult track conditions. The new asphalt together with the dust on track has made the morning session complicated. López has achieved a best time of 1:51.657 in the first free practice, a time that he has been able to improve to 1:50.989 in the second session, when the track grip has improved considerably. Diogo Moreira has finished just behind the Spanish rider, two tenths off his time, while CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon has completed the top 3, three tenths off López. The British has made great progress from one session to the next, having only been able to finish tenth in the morning, more than eight tenths off. Dixon has felt very comfortable with the bike from the start and his feelings are positive both on a single lap and on a long run. Tomorrow, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has a clear challenge: to fight for his first pole position of the season.
His teammate Izan Guevara has finished the first day in Aragón with the fourteenth best time. In the morning session, the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has only used one set of tyres, he has focused on working on the pace with used tyres and has finished in twenty-eighth position. However, in the afternoon, with new tyres, he has been able to set a competitive time that allows him to be in the provisional Q2 positions.
3rd Jake Dixon 1:51.292 (+0.303): “It has been a good day. We have started very well and it has been one of our best Fridays. We have worked hard, both on the pace on one lap and on the long run. I feel very comfortable and I am very happy.”
14th Izan Guevara 1:51.975 (+0.986): “I am happy with the work we have done. In the morning, we have decided to complete the entire session with the same tyre and we have finished far back, because there is a lot of degradation. In the afternoon I have set a time with which I am in provisional Q2 positions. Here it is difficult to know where the limit is with the new asphalt and I have done several mistakes. Little by little we will understand the new asphalt. It is a track that I like and tomorrow I will give everything to get into Q2.”
