CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Dani Holgado will lead the Moto2 starting grid for the fourth time in his debut year
Dani Holgado will lead the starting grid for the Moto2 race at the Valencia GP. The Spaniard has broken his own track record to be the fastest for the second consecutive day. The best rookie in the intermediate category will be joined on the front row by Izan Guevara and Senna Agius, who were just one tenth behind the CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider. His teammate David Alonso failed to make the cut in Q1 and will start tomorrow's final race of the year from twentieth place.
The Valencia Grand Prix ended its second day with a thrilling battle for the Moto2 pole position. Earlier, the riders in the intermediate category fine-tuned their bikes in the morning's free practice. This session became a key moment to work on a race simulation and arrive on Sunday with the best possible guarantees. Both Dani Holgado and David Alonso made the most of every lap to prepare for the afternoon's qualifying. The Colombian had to face Q1 at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, something that had not happened since the Japanese Grand Prix. Alonso achieved his best time of the weekend and gave his all, but it was not enough to make it through to Q2, and tomorrow he will start the last race of 2025 from the seventh row of the grid. On the other hand, his teammate Dani Holgado continues to show his best form. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider did not let up at any point and even beat his own record several times to stay in first place. In the final minutes, the fight for pole was extremely exciting, but Holgado once again surpassed himself to regain first place and secure his fourth pole position in his first year in Moto2.
1st Dani Holgado 1:31.715: “I'm really happy with today's work. Although it may not seem like it, we did a very productive race simulation this morning. I had a better pace than I expected, and this afternoon in qualifying I felt 100 per cent. I was able to push hard for five laps, which were very good. From the first lap, I felt comfortable and confident to squeeze the potential out of the bike. I'm very happy because I was able to enjoy riding. When you do that, everything works out, and even if it doesn't, you enjoy it just the same. Tomorrow we have the same goal, to continue having fun, but the important thing is not to lose focus on the race. This evening I will celebrate the pole position with my family, friends and the team. We are going to dream big and try to win in front of the local fans. We will do everything we can to achieve it.”
20th David Alonso 1:32.633: “It was a difficult day. In the morning I tried to find something that would allow me to improve, but I had a hard time riding smoothly. I gave it my all in qualifying, but I couldn't find a way to get anything more out of it here in Valencia. Tomorrow in the race we'll see what the others do and try to move up as many positions as possible.”
