The Italian Grand Prix awaits the CFMOTO Impulse Aspar Team riders

Dani Holgado and David Alonso want to turn the page after a difficult Sunday in Aragon and already have their minds set on the Mugello event

The CFMOTO Impulse Aspar Team arrives in Italy this weekend to compete in the ninth round of the calendar. The Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello will welcome Dani Holgado and David Alonso, who want to fight for good results again after an unexpected end to the Aragon Grand Prix for both riders. The last race was marked by Deniz Öncü's victory, the first one by a Turkish rider in Moto2, over Diogo Moreira, which resulted in the closest finish to date in the Moto2 category: three thousandths of a second. Belgian Barry Baltus completed the podium, and championship leader Manu González had to settle for ninth place. González still leads the standings but tied on 118 points with Aron Canet, who is second. Third is Brazilian Diogo Moreira, with just 90 points.

Mugello is a track where both CFMOTO Impulse Aspar Team’s riders know what it takes to win, although in Moto3: Holgado did so in 2023, while Alonso did the same one year later. The CFMOTO Impulse Aspar Team riders remain at the top of the fight to become the rookie of the year, despite not scoring any points in the previous round. Both riders are eager to continue progressing and learning in a category that is proving to be very competitive in 2025. The current Moto3 world champion and runner-up are the big revelation due to their rapid adaptation to Moto2 and the level they have shown throughout the last few races. With 36 points, Holgado is thirteenth in the Moto2 overall standings and Alonso is fifteenth with 28 points.

Dani Holgado: “I'm really looking forward to Mugello. It's another great opportunity to continue learning and evolving. The goal is to continue in the same vein, but to have a great Sunday, as that's what we've been lacking in recent races, when we haven't quite managed to pull it off. I want to focus on getting a good result on Sunday because the whole team deserves it.”

David Alonso: “The goal is to continue riding the Moto2 bike the way it demands and to stay focused on our own path. I want to enjoy this track because it seems like you can really enjoy it on a big bike. We'll see in Italy how much the finger limits me after the crash in Aragón. I must see if the injury bothers me much when riding and, from there, see if I can give 100 percent over the weekend.”
