Positive Italian Grand Prix for Alonso and Holgado

The CFMOTO European Privilege Aspar riders finished eighth and fifteenth respectively after climbing up the rankings throughout the race

David Alonso and Dani Holgado leave Italy with positive conclusions after completing a race full of learning for both riders. The CFMOTO European Privilege Aspar duo were forced to climb up the field on a difficult circuit to score valuable points in the standings. David Alonso finished eighth despite not being at full physical capacity due to his hand injury, while Dani Holgado managed to finish in the points, fifteenth, after having to serve a penalty for the incident at the Aragon Grand Prix. The overall leader, Manu González, secured his fourth victory of the season and regained his lead in the overall standings ahead of Aron Canet, who finished third today and is now nine points behind his compatriot. Between them finished Albert Arenas, who secured his second podium in the intermediate category with his second-place finish today at Mugello.

CFMOTO European Privilege Aspar wanted to make a fresh start this Sunday and approached the Italian Grand Prix race eager to achieve another good result. Both Alonso and Holgado approached the intermediate category race determined to make a good start to close the gap on the front runners. However, Colombian David Alonso was relegated to seventeenth position in the early laps. The Moto2 rookie focused on maintaining his own pace and looking for the best moments to overtake his rivals until he reached the top 10 in the standings. Alonso was not satisfied with this and remained focused on having a solid race without making mistakes. Finally, he crossed the finish line in eighth position. His teammate Dani Holgado started the race affected by the penalty he received in the last Grand Prix after the incident with his teammate. The Spaniard quickly completed the penalty and, from that moment on, began his real race after falling to the bottom of the standings. Holgado maintained a great pace and was able to overtake numerous rivals throughout the race, keeping up with the pace of the leading riders. The CFMOTO European Privilege Aspar rider was very consistent throughout the 19 laps to reach the points zone and finish fifteenth. With these results, Holgado remains the best rookie in the category, followed by David Alonso, who with today's eighth place finish is one point behind his teammate.

8th David Alonso (+5.924): “I started the race feeling good, although I fell far behind in the first few laps. I didn't want to get desperate because I wanted to try and find my pace in the race. I only had one overtaking point in the whole circuit and I took advantage of it on every lap. The most positive thing is that I was very close to the riders in front when we crossed the finish line. In the last few laps, I almost crashed a couple of times while trying to overtake, as my physical condition limited me a little after being out of action for a week. Now it's time to continue recovering and focus on next week's race in Assen.”

15th Dani Holgado (+11.967): “It was a pretty positive race because, despite the long lap, I had great pace and was able to overtake quite a few riders. It's not easy to overtake on this circuit as there aren't many heavy braking points. My pace was good enough for a top 10 finish and we could have aimed a little higher if we had been at the front. I'll take away the great work done by the team throughout the weekend. We were fast and didn't drop out of the top 10 in any of the sessions. We're competitive and we have the speed. We have to keep working; there's no other way to get to the top. We'll continue to give 100% to enjoy some good moments.”
