Motegi awaits the CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar riders

Dani Holgado and David Alonso arrive in Japan eager to continue their winning streak in the final stretch of the season

CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar continues its great streak. Dani Holgado secured back-to-back podiums with his third place in Misano, the team's fourth consecutive podium finish in the intermediate category. The San Marino Grand Prix was a very positive weekend for Holgado, who also took pole position on the Italian track. Now, the Spaniard faces a new challenge alongside his teammate David Alonso. The land of the rising sun welcomes the Moto2 rookies to compete in the Japanese Grand Prix, on a track where both have previously finished on the podium. Last year, the Colombian secured at Motegi his world championship title with a victory, his tenth of the year, in a historic season for the rider and the CFMOTO Aspar Team. In his time in the intermediate category, Alonso has finished the last three races in the top 10, one of them on the top step of the podium, and has staged some great comebacks. The CFMOTO Power Electronics Aspar rider wants to go one step further and improve in qualifying to make it easier to fight for to the top positions in the race. After the results of the last rounds, Holgado is seventh with 128 points, while Alonso is twelfth with 84 points. In addition, both occupy first and second place in the fight for the Moto2 rookie of the year title.

While in Moto3 there are only five riders left with mathematical (albeit remote) chances of fighting for the title, in Moto2 there are a total of 15, although the top four stand out in particular. In the last Grand Prix, none of the riders in the top three in the Moto2 standings made it onto the podium. Manu González, who finished sixth at Misano, continues to lead the overall standings, with a race and a half advantage over his closest rivals. Thirty-nine points behind, tied for second and third place, are Diogo Moreira and Aron Canet. The Brazilian rider came close to overtaking Holgado in the last race, but ultimately finished fourth. Barry Baltus, second at Misano, is in fourth place.

Dani Holgado: “I said it before San Marino, and I'll say it again: we're not setting ourselves a specific result, we're not setting ourselves any goals beyond continuing to learn and enjoying riding the bike. The four races ahead of us will be very different from what we're used to in Europe. We'll take them one at a time, thinking session by session to try to continue in the same line.”

David Alonso: “After a week's break, we're facing the Asian tour. The settings will be very different, the climate and schedules change a lot, and we need to have a lot of energy. The goal is to keep working and focusing on the areas that need the most improvement. We'll do our best in Japan and in the upcoming races.”
