SAN MARINO GP

Misano: Dixon’s comeback, chapter 5

Jake Dixon has closed the gap to the leader 62 points in the last four races with two wins and two podiums

Four consecutive podiums, five in the last seven races and two of them wins. These are the numbers with which CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon travels to the thirteenth round of the season, the San Marino GP. The British had a really difficult start to the season after the crash in Qatar and, as a consequence, he missed the first two races of the year. In addition, until the Catalunya GP, Dixon had not managed to open his points account. However, he has managed to turn the situation around and since the Barcelona race he is the rider who has scored most points in the intermediate category: a total of 119, compared to the 73 of the leader Sergio García, or the 86 of the second placed, Ai Ogura. Dixon has entered the title fight: after his recent victory in Aragon, he is only 43 points off the leader, and occupies fifth place in the World Championship. This weekend, at the San Marino GP, Dixon's challenge is to get the first podium of his career at the Misano - Marco Simoncelli Circuit to continue reducing the gap with the leader.

His teammate Izan Guevara arrives in San Marino with the aim of forgetting the crash in Aragon and getting a good result. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider wants to get back on track with points this weekend at Misano, a track where he finished third in Moto3 in 2022, the year in which he won the World Championship in the small category. The memories, in Moto2, are not so positive: last year he crashed on the last lap in a tough incident with another rider. Now, Guevara is working to take a step forward in Moto2 and be able to face the second part of the season fighting for points in each race.

Jake Dixon: “We are going to keep working as we have been doing, because it is helping us to get closer to the best. We are still far from the top, but there is still a long way to go in the World Championship. We have already won two times this year and, with the help of the team, I know that we can fight for a good result at Misano.”

Izan Guevara: “Misano is a track where I have been on the podium in Moto3 in the past. Last year I had a bad crash on the last lap. This year I am coming with the mentality of wanting to do it well, to be at the front. We are going to give our all because we have nothing to lose.”
