The CFMOTO Polarcube Aspar Team rider has finished second, just three tenths off the best time
CFMOTO Polarcube Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon has started the German GP with a smile. The British has set the second-best time on a day in which the fastest rider has been Somkiat Chantra. In the morning, Dixon had been ninth, more than half a second off the best time, achieved by Marcos Ramírez. In the second practice session, the CFMOTO Polarcube Aspar Team rider has managed to take a step forward and has improved his time by more than eight tenths. This progress has allowed him to climb to second position in the timesheet, just three tenths off Chantra. Dixon is satisfied with the work done and, after the positive feeling of the first day, he sets the goal of fighting for the first positions for the rest of the weekend. In that fight he will for sure have to fight the fastest riders in the championship, who today have ended in mid-positions: the Moto2 leader, Sergio García, has been seventh; while his teammate Ai Ogura has ended eighth, both with the same time and 569 thousandths off Chantra.
CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Izan Guevara has finished the first day in Germany in thirteenth place, a position with which he would be provisionally qualified for Q2. Despite this, the Spanish has not felt comfortable in Sachsenring. Tomorrow, Guevara will work to find a good set-up for his bike that will allow him to improve and be able to fight in the qualifying session for the front positions.
2nd Jake Dixon 1:23.049 (+0.351): “It has been a good first day and I really enjoyed it. We have worked calmly; we have focused on what we have and we have tried to build from it. Now, we are in a good position. We are really fast and I think that this weekend we can get a good result. I want to get back to the podium. We still have to improve a little on the one-lap speed and the rear tyre management, but if we can do that, I definitely think we will be in the fight.”
12+1 Izan Guevara 1:23.580 (+0.882): “At the moment, we are in Q2, but we have not found a set-up that I am comfortable with. We are suffering a lot to stop the bike. I am fighting to get my full potential and be, at least, among the top fourteen. Today we have work ahead of us and tomorrow we will try to take a step forward.”
