Dixon has climbed from eleventh position to third and has scored his first points of the season
CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon has achieved his first podium of the season at the Catalan Grand Prix after completing a great comeback. The British has started from eleventh position and has gone from lowest to highest in a tough race at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya. The management of the tyres has been key in the race and Dixon has known how to adapt to the circumstances to meet again with the podium for the first time since his 2023 Catalan GP win. The British has scored his first points of the season, after a start of the season that has not been easy for him. Japanese rider Ai Ogura has won with more than a three-seconds advantage over his teammate Sergio García who has finished second. All this in a race in which one of the favourites, Fermín Aldeguer, has crashed when he was leading. After this race, García extends his lead in the World Championship and is the first rider to maintain the lead for two races in a row.
CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Izan Guevara has not been able to complete a single lap at the Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya. Guevara has started from thirteenth position and has made a great start. However, in the first corner the American Joe Roberts has touched him and, as a consequence, he has crashed with Somkiat Chantra. Guevara has run out of options at that point. The Spanish already has his mind set on the next race, the Italian Grand Prix next week.
3rd Jake Dixon (+9,186): “I have suffered a lot, but we knew that the tide had to change. The bad times had to pass. The season did not start well, I had a huge crash and everything seemed to be against us. In today's race, tyre management has been key. I knew that everything was going to be decided in the last eight laps and that my pace and my way of working with the tyre were good. I have had to be smart, it has been difficult and I did not want to risk too much. It has been a great race and I have enjoyed it a lot.”
Izan Guevara (crash): “Until the race, it had been a very positive weekend. I had great pace and I have done a great start. However, in the first corner Roberts has touched my rear wheel and I have crashed with Somkiat Chantra. We had the potential to have a great race, but everything has been ruined in the first corner. I leave Barcelona with the desire to do it well in the next race, because this was a race in which I could fight to be ahead.”
