Double Q2 for CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team

Dixon will start from sixth position after finishing three tenths off pole and Guevara, who has completed one of his best qualifying of the year, will start from tenth place

Qualifying for the Moto2 Austrian GP has been very tight and the pole position has been decided by thousandths of a second. Although the top ranked riders in the World Championship, Sergio García and Ai Ogura, had led all the practice sessions, in qualifying the fastest rider has been Celestino Vietti. The Italian has set a time of 1:33.855, a register with which he has finished 58 thousandths ahead of second placed, Aron Canet. García, who has ended one tenth off the best time, will complete the first row of the grid. Tomorrow, the Spanish rider has a great opportunity to extend his lead, as Ogura has crashed during the last free practice session, has fractured his right hand and will not compete in the race tomorrow.

CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider Jake Dixon will start tomorrow from sixth position. The British has managed to get straight into Q2 and has finished three tenths off pole in qualifying. Dixon will fight to get back on the podium from the second row of the grid, although he knows it will not be easy. His teammate Izan Guevara has made a big step forward compared to yesterday and will start from tenth position. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider has ended the last free practice just 60 thousandths off getting straight to Q2, something he has achieved after Ogura's injury has ruled the Japanese out. In qualifying, the Spanish has been very competitive and has achieved one of his best grid results of the season. Guevara hopes to be able to fight with the leading group throughout the race and score points again in the Red Bull Ring, the track where he scored points for the first time in Moto2.

6th Jake Dixon 1:34.155 (+0.300): “Overall, it has been a good day. I have been struggling a bit this weekend with the front, I am not feeling comfortable. The team is working as hard as they can, I have to thank them for that. We need to understand what we can do and what solutions we can come up to. It is not over until the chequered flag, tomorrow is the race, we hope to have the best possible set-up and we will fight from there.”

10th Izan Guevara 1:34.265 (+0.410): “We have a good pace, but we would have liked to have a better grid position. Overall, I am happy with today because I have been able to go straight to Q2. Tomorrow, I want to fight with the front group, I will give my all until the chequered flag to get a good result.”
