The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team rider finished fourth in a difficult race at Brno. His teammate David Alonso was ninth after climbing up from nineteenth position
The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team ends the first part of the 2025 season on a very positive note. Dani Holgado and David Alonso head into the summer break after achieving great results at the Czech Grand Prix. Holgado equalled his best result to date in Moto2 after crossing the finish line in fourth position, while Alonso staged a great comeback to recover ten places and finish ninth. American Joe Roberts was the winner in a long and complicated race, followed by Barry Baltus in second place. Manu González finished third and extended his lead in the overall standings after his main rival Aron Canet crashed out in the first corner.
The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders faced two very different approaches in Sunday's race. Dani Holgado completed a very solid weekend and started the race from the second row of the grid. Holgado got off to a good start and focused on keeping the front group in sight. The rookie was very consistent on every lap, maintaining a good pace that did not overly compromise his tyre management. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider wanted to fight for his first podium in the intermediate category, but despite trying on every corner, he was unable to close the gap needed to reach the top three. Holgado crossed the finish line in a more than impressive fourth place, equalling his best result in Moto2 to date. On the other hand, David Alonso finished in nineteenth after failing to get through Q1 yesterday. The CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team rider worked very hard over the weekend to get to the race in the best possible shape. Aware of his starting position, the Colombian tried to move up the field from the early stages in order to reach the points zone. Halfway through the race, Alonso wanted more and sought a place in the top 10, which he achieved in the final laps to finish the race in ninth position. With these results, Dani Holgado remains the best rookie in the category and occupies thirteenth position, while his teammate is sixteenth.
4th Dani Holgado (+7.365): “It was a very tough race and I gave 100% in every corner. I tried to get on the podium because today I told my team that I was going to give it my all to achieve it. It wasn't possible because I was one or two tenths off the leaders’ pace, they were faster then me. I fought really hard for this fourth place. Mentally, it was very tough because I could see that I wasn't increasing my lead over the riders behind me, and racing like that is very difficult. We're going into the break with a lot of things to work on, but I'm very happy to finish like this.”
9th David Alonso (+14.736): “It was a good comeback, but I feel it wasn't enough. I felt comfortable in the last few laps with the used tyre, but in the first laps I struggle to make progress and get the most out of the new tyre. It's something that also happens to me in qualifying. This summer will be good for me to change a few things. I enjoy making comebacks, but I enjoy even more being at the front. The goal for the second half of the season is to be competitive from the start.”
