The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders are facing their second year in the intermediate category ready to fight for the World Championship
David Alonso and Dani Holgado want to be protagonists in this new Moto2 season, which kicks off this weekend in Thailand. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team riders finished their last pre-season test just a few days ago at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto, where they had the opportunity to fine-tune details before competing in the first race of 2026. Now they face the Buriram track, where last year they opened the season with mixed feelings: the Spaniard started with a great eighth position on a day that for the Colombian was ‘one of the worst’ since his debut in the World Championship. Alonso, accustomed to counting the previous season's Grand Prix victories, finished in twenty-first position.
From there, the two continued to grow, adding victories and raising the bar for their ambitions. Now, both riders have very clear goals. The CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team duo starts the season as one of the strongest line-ups in the category after a great year as rookies, in which Dani Holgado took the rookie of the year title ahead of his teammate. Despite their limited experience, they will have no qualms about taking on the more experienced riders on the grid, such as Manu González, Celestino Vietti, Barry Baltus and Alonso López, among others.
David Alonso: “In these first races, we have to be a little patient and continue in “test mode” because we've hardly had any days to ride in the preseason. When you're in a Grand Prix, it's easy to change your mindset, but we have to continue along these lines at the start of the season. I'll try to make the bike and myself one so that we can be as consistent as possible.”
Dani Holgado: “I'm really looking forward to getting to Thailand. It's a circuit that I really like and where I really enjoyed my first Moto2 race last year. This year we will try to continue enjoying ourselves and apply everything we learned last season. It will be key to have things clearer from the start, and we will work to make that happen. It's a very important year for us after the great end to the season we had. We need a little time to get back to the great form we had at the end of the year, but we'll gradually get those good feelings back. Hopefully, it will be from the first race.”
